Syl Johnson, (né Sylvester Thompson) est un chanteur de Rythm'n'Blues qui débuta sa carrière dans les années 60 et devint un hitmaker dans les années 70 sur le label Hi Records à Memphis. Il fut énormément samplé par toute la scène rap: Wu -Tang Clan, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy,...[page 46 dans le livre ] et ce notamment grâce à la chanson "Different strokes" [plage 31].
Comprenant les disques suivants: "My gift", "Do you know what soul is ?", "Dressed too short", "My funky funky band", "Is it because I'm black" et "We do it together".
Coffret format 33T contenant 6 LP, 4 CD et un livre de 50 pages. Le contenu des CD est identique au contenu des LP.
