Quakers est le nom derrière lequel se cachent Fuzzface, Katalyst et 7-Stu-7: Fuzzface est en fait Geoff Barrow, membre de Portishead, groupe culte de Bristol ayant participé à l'évènement du Trip-hop dans les années 90, Katalyst est un producteur australien qui a déjà collaboré avec The Roots, Dj Shadow ou encore Ben Haper tandis que 7-Stu-7 est l'ingénieur du son attitré de portishead et le producteur principal pour le label anglais Invada. Sous le nom Quakers, les trois producteurs se sont fait plaisir et on composés quelques 41 instrumentaux Rap en prenant bien soin de dépasser les limites d'un genre qui en connait hélas trop.... La liberté, la matière sonore, les samples, tout ici est fouillé, bien produit et fait preuve d'une vraie originalité! Pour assurer les parties vocales ils ont fait appel à des amis du label Stones Throw qui édite l'album, tels que M.E.D. , Guilty Simpson mais aussi des MC parfois trop discret comme Prince Po, Booty Brown (Pharcyde) ainsi que des MC'S dont on n'a jamais entendu parler de ce côté de l'Atlantique (Coin Locker Kid, Lyric Jones, Estee Nack). Pour montrer l'importance et profiter à 100% des excellentes productions, le label sort le double CD, un instrumental, le second avec les MC'S. Quakers est donc un très bon album à mettre entre toutes les mains, sans chichi, sans fausse modestie, juste une partie de plaisir et une belle claque à ceux qui pensent encore que le Rap est un art mineur.
