Récit préféré de l'auteur, "David Copperfield" est aussi le plus autobiographique. Le jeune David, rebuté par le comportement de son beau-père et les servilités de basse classe, cherche refuge auprès de femmes diversement asexuées : la mère-soeur, la servante-mère, l'épouse-enfant, autant de pôles de douceur qui contrastent avec la marâtre et la femme autoritaire. L'oeuvre fut éditée en 1849. Elle est lue sur les quatre CD dans la langue originale, l'anglais. JMV.
