Le personnage de Dracula continue à passionner les lecteurs du XXème siècle. L'oeuvre, écrite par Abraham Stoker, écrivain irlandais (1847 - 1912), fut publiée en 1897 sous la forme d'un journal et de lettres. Le récit se situe en Transylvanie, dans les Carpates. Le clair-obscur des paysages de montagnes, l'expression de solitude du voyageur apportent au roman l'envoûtement d'un monde étrange, peuplé de morts-vivants. L'oeuvre, présentée dans sa langue originale, l'anglais, est lue par un narrateur soutenu par des comédiens qui se partagent les divers rôles. Un programme musical soutient, par épisodes, la lecture.
