"Barbershop [close] harmony is a style of unaccompanied vocal music which usually has four-part chords for every melody note and it dates back to the early 20's. The Ink Spots and the Mills Brothers, in the early 40's, combined Barbershop & Close Harmony singing with use of musical instruments and created a style which rapidly conquered the world. Roberto Rico & His Fabulous Band are a modern version of those groups."
