IT'S WHAT'S HAPPENNIN' - THE VARITONE SOUND OF CLARK TERRY
Clark TERRY
- Ref. UT2204
- IMPULSE, 1998. Enregistrement 1967.
As his music indicates, Clark Terry is a man who enjoys the surprises of being challenged. Accordingly, it's logic for Clark to be the first to make a recording whith the new Selmer Varitone electronic trumpet. The instrument adds to the range of a player's choices in several areas. A dial (the octamatic), for example, enables the trumpeter, if he chooses, to play two octaves simultaneously - the tone he's fingering and an octave lower. The result, as you'll hear, is like a trumpet and trombone playing together.
