Enregistré en public le 27 février 2013 au Wigmore Hall (Londres), ce récital du contre-ténor anglais Iestyn Davies fait la part belle aux musiciens de la Restauration : Purcell, Blow, Croft et Clarke. C'est un répertoire qu'Alfred Deller affectionnait tout particulièrement. La voix de Davies est cristalline, sa diction est très soignée et, si les premières plages du disque reflètent une hâte propre au stress de début de concert, la sérénité ne tarde pas à apparaître dévoilant une maîtrise parfaite de tous les interprètes. Une heure de belle musique.
