Quel est le dénominateur commun du soufisme arabe et de la Renaissance en Angleterre ? La mélancolie. Que ce soit en poésie ou en musique, ce sentiment universel traverse le temps et touche les coeurs avec la même acuité en Orient comme en Occident. Textes de Ben Johnson, de Christina Rosetti, de Mahmoud Darwish ou de Mansur Al-Hallaj mis en musique par John Dowland, Nicolas Lanier, Moneim Adwan ou Thomas Smetryns nous font éprouver le même sentiment face à la séparation, à la solitude ou à l'amour impossible. Ce projet hétérogène initié par la luthiste Sofie Vanden Eynde rassemble une habituée de l'interprétation du répertoire anglais de la Renaissance, Clare Wilkinson et l'auteur, compositeur et interprète palestinien Moneim Adwan. Une initiative se voulant un vecteur de changement, de dialogue et de spiritualité. AG
