Ce disque est un régal pour les oreilles ! Ian Bostridge, Antonio Pappano, rejoints par la luthiste Elizabeth Kenny, le flûtiste Adam Walker, le clarinettiste Michael Collins et l'altiste Lawrence Power, nous offrent un répertoire de mélodies dont le dénominateur commun est l'auteur des textes: William Shakespeare. 2016 marque le 400ème anniversaire de la mort de l'auteur de sonnets et de pièces de théâtre qui n'ont cessé d'inspirer les compositeurs à travers les époques comme en témoigne le programme de ce très beau récital. De William Byrd à Stravinsky en passant par Britten, Finzi, Korngold ou Poulenc, tous ces créateurs ont fleuri le texte du grand Will de leur musique.
