Ô temps suspend ton vol.... C'est à peu de chose près le thème que propose l'ensemble Celadon accompagné par la voix du contre-ténor Paulin Bündgen. A travers les époques, ce sont bien les mêmes émotions qui sont distillées par la musique : la mort, la douleur mais aussi la recherche de la transcendance. Dans un contexte géographique circonscrit (l'Angleterre), les interprètes nous emmènent de la Renaissance à l'époque contemporaine. L'élégie sur la mort de Thomas Tallis écrite par William Byrd (Ye sacred muses) offre un hommage vibrant au musicien. Les consort songs de Nathaniael Patrick (Prepare to die, Send forth thy sighs), John Bennet (Eliza, her name gives honour), Richard Farran (O Jove, from stately throne), Christopher Tye (Sit fast) ou Picforth (In nomine) donnent la réplique aux cinq Songs for Ariel conçus par Michael Nyman en 1992 pour le film de Peter Greenaway Prospero's Books. En 1995, Nyman crée le Self-Laudatory Hymn of Innana and Her Omnipotence, sur un poème sumérien, une oeuvre qui clôt en beauté cet enregistrement plein d'atmosphère.
