" Prayer " rassemble un choix de pièces inspirées par des thèmes tirés de la musique religieuse juive. Dans ce domaine, il était impossible de passer sous silence le compositeur d'origine suisse Ernest Bloch dont la musique est nourrie par ce matériau ô combien riche. From Jewish Life, Nigun Méditation Hébraïque et bien sûr son chef d'oeuvre Schelomo reçoivent ici une interprétation magistrale par la violoncelliste Sol Gabetta. Des extraits du cycle From Jewish Folk Poetry, op.79 de Chostakovitch dans une transcription pour violoncelle et orchestre à cordes ainsi que le Chant aux oiseaux de Pablo Casals viennent enrichir ce programme aux accents volontiers orientaux.
