Purcell's revenge est un foutu mélange de genres : musique ancienne, folk, ballade, le tout prenant Purcell comme argument. A l'image de la rencontre entre Concerto Caledonia, ensemble à qui l'on doit quelques découvertes en musique écossaise (réf. AH7089 ; BC5655 ; BO6907 ; CE9852), le contre-ténor James Bowman, les chanteuses Olivia Chaney (The Longest River (Nonesuch Records, 2015) et Ana Silvera 2012 (The Aviary" (Karamel Music Collective) ainsi que le chanteur Jim Moray (réf.XM811A ; XM811B ; XM811C ; XM811D), le caléidoscope sonore réserve un lot de surprises qui, selon vos oreilles, seront de bonnes découvertes rafraichissant les habitudes d'écoute ou au contraire de lamentables tentatives pour populariser un compositeur qui, depuis le temps, en a déjà vu d'autres.
