Plus encore qu'un simple récit narratif, Samson est un drame d'une grande profondeur psychologique. En trois actes, on assiste en effet à la lente mais inexorable résurrection mentale d'un homme élu de Dieu qui, abattu par les remords, se reconstruit peu à peu. La conscience de son erreur le nourrit et l'aide à concevoir un décisif retournement de situation. Enchaîné et privé à tout jamais de ses yeux, Samson est pourtant peu à peu certain de son pouvoir. Pour libérer Israël, il va parvenir à regagner la clémence de Dieu et à anéantir d'un seul coup le peuple de ses geôliers. [Outhere Music]
