En cette année 2015, le compositeur estonien Arvo Part fête ses 80 ans ! Peter Phillips et The Tallis Scholars ont pris le postulat de chanter la musique de Pärt comme ils abordent la musique des maîtres anciens de la Renaissance. En effet, on trouve chez le compositeur contemporain bien des points communs avec des Palestrina et des Tallis, pour ne citer qu'eux. A côté du fort sentiment religieux de Pärt et l'utilisation particulière du silence, l'évocation du son des cloches a donné naissance à ce qu'on a appelé le style Tintinnabuli basé sur le diatonisme. Le Magnificat (1989) fait à merveille la démonstration de cette façon de faire. Un choix d'oeuvres a cappella vient compléter la démonstration de cette simplicité jamais simpliste qu'est la musique de Pärt.
