"One of the few rare soundtrack outings for Gary McFarland -- an artist who's best known for his groovier jazz and bossa work of the 60s! This material's quite different than Gary's other work of the time -- as it's quite serious, moody, and orchestral -- penned with some of the deeper tones of his Profiles orchestral suite for Impulse, and proof of his rich talents that weren't always caught on record. The music is often quite tense -- strung between light strings that are often tuned a bit oddly, touches of woodwinds, and some occasional other sounds that show that great McFarland ear for the unusual.
