"A heavenly-sounding score for this Jason & The Argonauts film from the early 60s -- one that features some great exotic touches! In addition to the dramatic orchestrations usually found in a peplum film like this, the music also features some cool choral bits too -- wordless vocals that have an eerie feel that really adds to the mood of the film -- and which are almost a bit spooky, but not in the way that voices are used later in Italian soundtracks. There's still a degree of warmth here -- some historicity and sentimentality -- but Carlo Rustichelli's tunes really try for something greater even than the images themselves, and they're carried off nicely through the direction of Franco Ferrara."
