Prometheus release another soundtrack that a lot of fans have been waiting for - John Williams' brilliant Oscar nominated avant-garde soundtrack to Robert Altman's cult movie from 1972, Images starring Susannah York as a schizophrenic woman with a loosening grip on reality. The Images soundtrack is Williams' avant-garde masterpiece - written for the most part for strings, piano and percussion - with keyboards played by the composer himself and the percussion entirely the work of Japanese artist Stomu Yamash'ta. Yamash'ta, then just 24, had already gained a reputation as one of the world's most talented young percussionists. The Images soundtrack has never been commercially available, so this LP replicates the content found on the promotional LP that Williams assembled for the Academy members 'for their consideration'.
