"For more than a dozen years, John Cephas and Phil Wiggins have been performing, preaching and teaching a brand of traditional music known as Piedmont blues. Geographically, the Piedmont stretches from Richmond to Atlanta. Musically, it refers to a recognizable regional sound, a combination of repertoire and instrumental approaches shared among black musicians in the Southeast."
