La jamaïque durant les années 50 sera sous l'influence prépondérante de la musique en provenance des Etats-Unis (soldats en station en jamaïque apportant disques et culture américaine, radios de la côte sud des Etats-Unis captées en Jamaïque etc.). Durant les années 50, le R&B sera alors la musique diffusée par les soundsystems naissant et va être un des ingrédient sdu ska (1962) puis du rocksteady (1968) à venir.
Voici une sélection représentative et intéressante de R&B (et Doo-Wop, Boogie...) ayant donc contrinbués à l'avolution des musiques jamaïcaines en 3Cd avec un livret informatif en anglais. (BB)
