Compilation autour du phénomène "shuffle" (ou Jamaican boogie). La jamaïque durant les années 50 sera sous l'influence prépondérante de la musique en provenance des Etats-Unis (soldats en station en jamaïque apportant disques et culture américaine, radios de la côte sud des Etats-Unis captées en jamaïque etc..). Durant les années 50 le R&B sera alors la musique diffusée par les soundsystems naissant et va être un des ingrédients du ska (1962) puis du rocksteady (1968) à venir.
