Masta Ace sort Ma Doom : Son of Yvonne, un hommage à sa mère décédée en 2005. L'album devait être une collaboration entre lui et MF DOOM mais on ne peut qu'être déçu lorsqu'on réalise que les instrumentaux sont issus d'autres albums d'MF DOOM.... Passé cette déception on admettra néanmoins que Masta Ace est un excellent rappeur et un bon parolier, mais la thématique 'hommage' et flashback permanent perd de son intérêt au fur et à mesure de l'album.
