Groupe originaire de San Francisco formé par d'anciens membres de Sly & the Family Stone. On attribue généralement au fondateur et bassiste du groupe Larry Graham d'avoir inventé le slapping (technique de bassiste qui consiste à percuter les cordes au moyen du pouce) technique qui influencera fortement le funk et le disco.
