Deux ans après son opus « Stripped » et à l'occasion de ses vingt ans de carrière, la chanteuse soul Macy Gray revient avec son dixième album studio « Ruby ». Dans cette galette, notre diva à la voix rauque nous convie sur douze chansons originales joliment orchestrées dont le sympathique « Sugar Dady », un titre qui rend hommage au film « Lady Sings The Blues » sorti en 1972. La musique sensuelle, groovy et envoûtante surfe entre Soul, Rock et R&B, sans oublier des rythmes funky, des phrasés hip-hop et des arrangements jazzy. (CL)
