SO MANY YEARS
LITTLE AXE
- Ref. KL6695
- GOSPEL JUBILEE, 1939-1954.
"There are a half dozen or so famous black gospel quartet leads whose names came to prominence in the forties and fifties: R.H.Harris, Sam Cooke, Ira Tucker, Archie Brownlee, and Claude Jeter among them. Each is generally associated with a single group with whom they made a name for themselves. A very fine singer who has never been given his proper due is Willmer "Little Axe" Broadnax. Because he sang at different times with so many groups, he never had the surviving fame that some of his colleagues received."
