STAY OUT OF THE KITCHEN
Mable JOHN
- Ref. KJ5325
- STAX, 1992.
"Mable John's career is one of the great enigmas of soul music. Possessing a distinctive voice, smouldering with sensuality, she was the first woman signed by Berry Gordy to his Tamla label. Six years later in 1966, she headed south to record to Memphis' mighty Stax Records. By 1969 she was employed by Ray Charles as the lead singer on a number of Raeletts releases for Charles' Tangerine label. But, yet in 1992, only hardcore soul aficionados know who she is." Recorded mid/late 60's.
