TROJAN est le nom du soundsystem le plus populaire de la jamaïque fin des années 50, appartenant au célèbre producteur Duke Reid (1915-1975) surnommé d'ailleurs le "trojan". Le nom désignera ensuite le nom de son label. Le nom est emprunté à un constructeur automobile britanique, la jamaïque étant une ancienne colonie britanique, on retrouvait un nombre important de véhicules de cette marque sur l'île, dont les camionettes-vans étaient utilisées pour transporter les soundsystems. TROJAN est un label qui a joué un rôle important au niveau du rocksteady (la transition du ska vers le reggae) avec un impact important en Angleterre. Coffret soigné avec 123 plages réparties en 5 thématiques dont 87 jamais éditées en CD et livret avec informations précieuses. Incontournable. (BB)
