THEY CALL ME PIANO MAN
Van WALLS
- Ref. KW1240
- WHISKEY, WOMEN, AND..., 1949-1987.
"Although hardly a household name, and known today mostly to R'n'B devotees, he is one of those instrumentalists who caracterized a whole era of Black popular music. Harry Van "Piano Man" Walls has never been a star, but his earthy, driving, highly personal piano playing left a deep mark on the mainstream of early fifties R'n'B, thanks particularly to his recordings with two of the most popular and influencial voices of the period, Ruth Brown and Big Joe Turner." Track 14 recorded c.1949/50.
