"To Pimp A Butterfly" est le nouvel album du rappeur californien Kendrick Lamar (Black Hippy). Musicalement, on découvre un nouvel opus de seize titres de Rap West Coast mêlés de teintes néo-Soul, Jazz, Funk et Soul. Des sonorités puisées dans les musiques afro-américaines des années cinquante à aujourd'hui. À travers ses textes, le jeune homme rappe, chante et utilise le Spoken Word pour nous parler de l'actualité et des questions de racismes dont souffre son pays. On découvre aussi de nombreux invités comme entre autres les chanteurs, Bilal, George Clinton ou Snoop Dogg ainsi que quelques producteurs de renoms comme Flying Lotus et Taz Arnold (alias Tisa).
