BLACK HMONG SHAMAN IN VIETNAM
- Ref. MY9242
- KINK GONG, 2006.
"A healing ceremony held by a 80 years old black HMONG shaman, jumping while performing in a private hmong house in Lai Chau, near Sapa.. The Hmongs are a predominant ethnic group in southern China, northern Laos and Vietnam, they all come from Guizhou province in China where they are called Miao, the ones who left China in the 19 th century have defined various different cultural identities since, but the mouthorgan remains their distinctive main instrument. This recording explores a less musical expression, the shamanic trance is the purpose. The shaman is not only intending to clean the body and soul of the people but also the house itself and forecast the future." (notes de la pochette)
