MUSIC FROM VIETNAM
- Ref. MY9265
- CAPRICE RECORDS, 1991.
This repertoire consists of earlier traditional music and of what today is frequently termed "new traditional" music. That music is the result of a fairly late development in the long history of Vietnamese musical tradition. Deliberate efforts are being made to renew earlier forms, to develop the traditional instruments and, on this basis, to create a national orchestral music - a kind of Asiatic counterpart to the European orchestral tradition.
