PHNONG IN CAMBODIA 2 (GONGS)
- Ref. MV3677
- KINK GONG, 2005.
Enregistrements de terrain parLaurent Jeanneau en 2005 dans la province de Mondolkiri, à l'est du Cambodge. Ce disque présente de la musique de gongs jouée lors de cérémonies animistes. Quelques notes en anglais. (ASDS)
"The majority of people living in Mondolkiri province are PHNONG, related to the Mnong ethnic group on the otherside of the boarder in Vietnam, they belong to the MON khmer family and are the first inhabitants of this area. With other ethnic groups in this area, they share a lot musically, especially the fascination for gong playing in animist ceremonies, but also similar bamboo instruments. Nowadays they only use 6 cengs or flat gongs for their animist ceremonies. This recording session was done in Butang village, where they still have elephants, it is the only time that I've seen singing while playing gongs." (notes de la pochette)
