En 1952, Folkways Records publiait le coffret de 6 LP « The Anthology of American Folk Music » (MA5028), compilée par Harry Smith et consacrée aux chansons et musiques américaines des années 1920 et 30. Ce coffret a eu une grande influence sur le folk revival des années 1950-60. En 2020, le label Dust To Digital publie le même répertoire, dans le même ordre, mais avec des versions alternatives des morceaux, les faces B des 78 tours, donnant une autre vision du répertoire de l'époque. Il est à noter que trois plages sont référencées mais n'apparaissent pas sur les disques pour cause de paroles racistes (plage 5 du cd1, plage 4 du cd2 et plage 16 du cd4).
