- Ref. MI7080
- FAST HORSE RECORDINGS, 2004.
suite du titre: "shamans".
"The Shipibo Shamans, presented by Barrett Martin "Woven Songs Of The Amazon" In 2004, as part of his graduate research in ethnomusicology, Barrett Martin spent a month recording the healing songs of Shipibo shamans in the Upper Peruvian Amazon. "Woven Songs Of The Amazon" is an album of these field recordings, sequenced as a day and a night in the village of San Francisco de Yarina Cocha, which means, "serpent lagoon". Using herbal remedies from their jungle gardens, the Shipibo use all-vocal healing songs, called "icaros" to cure individuals of various illnesses and maladies. These recordings are a beautiful and enchanting testament to the power and ancientness of this tradition, and the album is a benefit album to raise money for the village and its traditional healers."
