"Richard Youngs and Simon Wickham-Smith have been recording music together since 1990 and have released more than 20 albums, in 2000 they decided that they should shake things up a little, and instead of recording together so often, decided to limit their output to one 10 minute track a year. This disc is the fruit of five years of recording, with the final track on the cd recorded only weeks before the album was pressed. Concept collaborations always seem to end up with very mixed quality, yet Youngs and Wickham-Smith manage to pull this one off very well. Probably their recording history made their '10 minutes a year' strategy a little more manageable - as the tracks don't sound disjointed at all. Those of you familiar with Youngs' more folky work for JagJagwar should take note though, there's not an ounce of that sound in this recording - instead the two opt for something altogether more noisy, relying on abstract synthesized oscillations, tides of noise and percussive rumbles. Imagine if Wolf Eyes were jamming with Luc Ferrari and you might have some idea where this disc takes you - it's riveting stuff too, and manages to avoid the noisey boredom that
