Ce qui saute aux yeux (enfin plutôt aux oreilles) en écoutant A JOYFUL NOISE, c'est que Beth Ditto et ses deux compères sont passés d'un punk-rock nerveux à une dance mainstream (on pense à Kylie Minogue ou encore Madonna!)formatées radio et influencées par la pop des années 1980 (Beth Ditto avoue avoir composé cet album en écoutant Abba en boucle).
