A THOUSAND HEYS
MAZES

  • Ref. XM306E
  • FAT CAT RECORDS, 2011.

Already touted by Zane Lowe as the 'next big thing', Mazes have been compared to the Vaccines and the Strokes. They're really not that bad though, trust me - and trust Fat Cat, the kind label who snapped them up and gathered up some of their best tunes for 'A Thousand Heys'. Apparently the band had a bunch of tracks on various tapes before releasing this gem, and it sounds like it - there's a lo-fi DIY quality that it's impossible to fake, and lord knows there's plenty of new bands faking it at the moment. You know the drill, crunchy leads, half-shouted nonchalant vocals, drums just nudging into the same rhythm as the rest of the track. This is punk rock, and really, there's a lot more to it that might meet the ear. (Article paru sur le site Boomkat)
