Compositeur, improvisateur, sculpteur, créateur d'instruments et d'installations sonores, Max Eastley a notamment mis au point l'Arc, un instrument monocorde de près de trois mètres de long, qui peut se jouer à la main, à l'archet, ou avec de courtes tiges en verre. Longtemps inspiré par les harpes éoliennes, Eastley a développé son Arc à la fois comme une sculpture, un instrument acoustique et électro-acoustique (il est muni d'un microphone qui permet au musicien d'en reprendre le son à travers une série d'effets). Il en tire des drones qu'il marie avec le son de ses propres installations ou avec d'autres musiciens.
"It is a follow up to "the time of the ancient astronaut" released in 2001. Max Eastley is a sound sculptor, artist, and musician. When with Spaceheads he plays an instrument he invented and made himself called The Arc. It is a monochord of wood and wire, which is scraped, bent and flexed into an orbit of amplified effects. Since releasing "ancient astronaut" in 2001, Spaceheads and Max Eastley have played a variety of gigs including a live session for the BBC "Mixing It" programme.
