HALF CONTROL
SIX FINGER SATELLITE

  • Ref. XS426F
  • LOAD RECORDS, 2009.

Providence, Rhode Island band Six Finger Satellite reunite for a new album - or at least a new version of a long-since shelved album. Half Control was originally planned in 2001, but it's only now, reformed in a new line-up that the band have got around to finishing the job. Six Finger Satellite earned their place in history thanks to a string of influential albums for Sub Pop, launching the career of John Maclean, later to be known as The Juan Maclean. That other DFA stalwart James Murphy even got in on the Six Finger Satellite sound, contributing to the krautrock-influenced 1998 album, Law Of Ruins. The 2008 incarnation of the band sounds raw and primal combining hardcore punk stylings with searing '80s-style synth tones in a remorselessly jarring fashion, yet on tracks like 'Artificial Light' this dichotomous combination undoubtedly packs a punch.
