Sorti en 1985, l'album "This is The Sea" des Waterboys s'est d'emblé hissé au rang des classiques des années 80, en particulier grâce à son célèbre single "The Whole Of The Moon". Auteur et compositeur de la plupart des chansons, leur leader Mike Scott avait enregistré pour l'occasion des démos piano-voix avec l'aide du producteur John Brand, et ce sont celles-ci, totalement inédites, que l'on retrouve dans ce recueil appelé "In A Special Place".
