- IDEAL RECORDINGS, 2009. Enregistrement 2007.
Stockholm's Audionom are a Krautrock and new-wave influenced group who make their return to Ideal with Superior. After an opening piece ('Audionom') that evokes the primal synthesis of Cluster records, 'Girls & Boys' launches into the album's first all-out rocker, sounding like Joy Division fronted by Einar from The Sugarcubes. Next comes 'Imposter', which jacks the intensity up a stage further, dissolving the production into an abandoned industrial warehouse of cold Scandinavian echo. By now you'll notice that repetition is a key element of the band's sound, not just in terms of their motorik policy on riff construction, but in terms of the lyrics too - the repeated phrasings and mantra-like quality of 'Run Into The Sun' serves the track well however, helping to instil a steely, Suicide-like menace to proceedings. A solid, well-constructed electro-punk album from the always interesting Ideal imprint. (Chronique du site Boomkat)
