Stefan Schneider is one of those enviably tireless characters whose influence and sound is written all over contemporary German electronic music. From his founding role in Kreidler to his work with To Rococo Rot and more recently alongside Jay Ahern in the Hauntologists, it's also possible to track a constant theme of melodic and rhythmic experimentation which can be traced back to his Dusseldorf forefathers Neu!, Kraftwerk and DAF. And, in the fine tradition of German experimental music, he's taken on board a large African influence on 'The Africa Chamber', working with Nicholas Addo-Nettey, a former member of Fela Kuti's Africa70 outift, and legendary percussionist in his own right (his recently reissued Pax Nicholas & The Nettey Family album is well recommended!). Also working with respected trombonist Annie Whitehead and additional drums from Thomas Klein, Schneider has crafted a gorgeously nuanced set of lilting rhythmic electronica, exploring the melodius thunk of multiple percussionists meshed with fluid synth patterns, sometimes making it difficult to know where one ends and the other stops. The vibe here is personal, tender and wholly inviting, making for a subliem listen from end to end. (Aritcle du site Boomkat)
