Ce quatorzième volume de la série de bootlegs de Bob Dylan, présentée par Columbia/Legacy comporte les enregistrements studio cruciaux réalisés par Bob Dylan lors de six sessions extraordinaires en 1974 : quatre à New York (les 16, 17, 18 et 19 septembre) et deux à Minneapolis (les 27 et 30 décembre), qui donnèrent lieu au chef-d'oeuvre de l'artiste : Blood On The Tracks, sorti en 1975. L'un des albums les plus vendus de la carrière de Bob Dylan, Blood On The Tracks redéfinit les frontières et les structures de la composition de la pop moderne (un genre que le chanteur avait quasiment inventé une décennie auparavant). Blood On The Tracksfut à l'origine enregistré en quatre jours à New York, en septembre 1974. Peu de temps après, l'album fut masterisé et des exemplaires promotionnels commencèrent à circuler. Quelques mois plus tard, Bob Dylan eut l'impression que l'album avait besoin d'une approche différente ; fin décembre de cette même année, il réenregistra cinq des morceaux aux studios Sound 80 de Minneapolis. Bien que quelques-unes de ces prises provenant des sessions new-yorkaises aient été grandement plébiscitées par les bootleggers et les collectionneurs, un grand nombre de ces enregistrements n'ont jamais été proposés sous quelque format que ce soit.

Le coffret deluxe 6 CD de Bob Dylan - More Blood, More Tracks - The Bootleg Series Vol. 14 comporte l'intégralité des sessions new-yorkaises classées par ordre chronologique et inclut les prises défectueuses, les faux départs et les plaisanteries de studio. Les producteurs de l'album ont travaillé à partir des meilleures sources disponibles, dans la plupart des cas en utilisant les bandes multipistes originales des sessions.
